lilacgirl, too bad that your family mostly wouldn't try what you made. They sound great. Vegetarian paella happens to be the dish I make when folks come to dinner. (Talk about being a one-trick pony). I don't make an alternative. No one has ever complained. Of course, I start out with sherry and Spanish almonds, then serve my favorite rioja with dinner, and have a Spanish liquor with dessert
