Default The Gluten-Free Vegan

Awesome cookbook by Susan O'Brien (except for the little bit about oats). Great biscuit recipe (my test of a good cookbook), and a good mix of "traditional" and "exotic" recipes. When I have time (and a non-dorm kitchen) I fully intend to try every recipe in the book.

I bought it but haven't made anything from it yet. Nothing inspired me.

I got it a few weeks ago and tried the currant scones but I stuffed them up by using potato flour because I had no tapioca flour. They turned out like dry potato cakes, d'oh!

I am looking fwd to making more from it!

I made the veggie soup, the one that's meant to have fava beans only I left 'em out and used lentils instead. This is now my go-to veggie soup and I added in a bunch more veggies and some quinoa too.

I made the no-bake chocolate cookies last night and the yam/black bean burrito recipe. Both very good.

This is a great cookbook! The GF Vegetarian one also has a good share of Vegan recipe's in it, too, and then the rest can be altered.

Well I hate to be such a downer, especially as this is my first post in the vegiac forums, but I have to say I hated this book. Maybe because I'd had such high hopes for it. I made a few things out of it, the "meatballs" - did not hold together very well and were I felt were too fiddly. the Yam & blackbean burritos just did not taste that nice. Then again I'm not the best cook so it may just be my cooking. I think also the book was just not suited to my tastes.

That's a shame, Emily. I still have to make a lot more from this book.

Here's the hummus
