As far as grocery stores go, it depends where you live. Wegman's and a local groery both have a great supply of GF foods. Wegman's clearly marks their own products with allergy info and symbols for gluten, lactose, etc.

I have also found GlutenFreeMall.com a good source for products and for learning what companies to look for. Alaso VitaCost.com has great prices on GF pasta and other things.

Check GF blogs for great recipes. If you come across one, they usually have links to others. Many are vegan.

wheatlessandmeatless.com
there are reviews of glutenfree foods that are vegetarian and in some cases vegan and the recipes are either glutenfree and vegan or easily adaptable to vegan from vegetarian with the substitution of egg replacer or soy milk.

enjoy!

ps:
ive been doing weightwatchers for the last few months. there's a glutenfree weightwatchers group on yahoo if you'd like some support there (i didnt join, just follow the diet)

If you're not into cooking then try cooking a lot at a time and freezing. Rice freezes well. Stir-frying frozen veggies is a quick way to get a meal. Keeping fresh veggies cut up and at hand is almost a must, you can just grab em and use for a salad or as dippers for hummus or some other dip type dishes. Cans of beans save me several times a week. It's easy to open a can rather than to soak and cook beans, even tho I believe it would be healthier to cook my own. Maybe next week. Maybe not.

You can start off by cooking slow this way and then build up your freezer so that when you do feel like trying a new recipe you will have backup basics already at hand.

I'm new to the gluten free world and I don't know if other grains freeze well. Maybe someone can comment on this. Quinoa, millet and buckwheat cook much faster than brown rice but it would be nice to have bags of grains on hand for quick run & go meals.

Good luck. Keep us updated on your progress.

Glad you found the answers. I understand being hungry and not wanting to cook. My wife has done amazing things in order to cook food for us that's not only gluten free but also dairy free, soy free, bean free, egg free, MSG free and so on.

With my encouragement she came up with a gluten free vegetarian cookbook and we made it available for the first time when Dr. Campbell, author of The China Study came to speak.

My Mood: Fine
Default

My husband is having this issue as well. We were fine as vegetarians but now that we're GF, too - he's like "I'm starving." So - we're very new to this but I feel that we'll figure it out in time. We're just "snacking more" during the day - on healthy stuff like apple/peanut butter, boiled egg, nuts.

I realize it's harder on a vegan vs vegetarian diet, so I'm looking forward to reading the suggestions others give you.

Default Starving.

Here are a few of my favorite meat free, wheat free foods.

1. Lentil soup (pretty easy to make).

2. Road's End Organics Mac and Chreese (they have a gluten free vegan mac and cheese that's as easy to make as Kraft).

Take protein supplements if you need them. Eat brown rice and lentils. Do what you can to get the protein you need. I'm sorry you're suffering so much :-(.
