- I became vegan in November of 2008. After suffering from gastrointestinal issues for about 10 years, I thought for sure eliminating dairy would solve my problems. It didn't. Then my dad was diagnosed with celiac disease, and I thought I should get tested. I found out recently that I also have it. Hopefully once I get on a totally gluten-free diet, my symptoms will go away!
