Their vision was to become the country’s favorite restaurant. Troy Smith Sr. kept this goal in mind and over 60 years later, it is still a go-to fast food restaurant for many Americans.

In 1999 the 2000th Sonic drive-in was opened in Oklahoma City, and in 2001 the company reached the milestone of earning $2 billion in sales.

As of 2001 they employed over 60,000 teenagers throughout their restaurants and were picked by Teen People magazine as part of a list called “Top Ten Jobs That Rock”.

Soon following in 2003, Forbes named Sonic one of the “200 Best Small Firms In America” and they held a spot on that list for a decade. Entrepreneur additionally named them one of the best franchise opportunities.

When Sonic celebrated its 50th anniversary, every township in Oklahoma with over 4,000 residents had a Sonic.

Around the year 2000, Sonic opened a new headquarters in downtown Oklahoma City.

Sonic has incredible staff training which inspires employees to create unique experiences for their customers no matter what, which has earned them a loyal fanbase. The company keeps moving forward with a focus on special meals that can’t be found in any other restaurant.

Over 3 million customers order food from Sonic every single day.

What Exactly Is Ice Cream?

Ice cream is a combination of sugar, cream, milk, and flavoring that is frozen using special techniques. It has been around for hundreds of years but only became a household treat once refrigerators became popularized.

Ice cream has to be churned in order to avoid large ice crystals from forming. Churning also introduces air into the ice cream and creates a foamy texture that makes the ice cream softer. Sometimes salt or liquid nitrogen are used in the churning process.

Ice cream is usually eaten as a dessert or snack, and is especially enjoyed in the summer.

Ice cream is served with toppings such as chocolate, sprinkles, and whipped cream. You can get it in a bowl or in different kinds of cones. There are ice cream trucks that drive around neighborhoods selling ice cream.
